The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Vassalboro, ME, sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of advocates and educators committed to a food system that champions social, environmental, and economic justice. By providing free access to our comprehensive training programs, we strive to ensure that all aspiring Fellows can participate. Our dynamic curriculum includes organic food system education, practical farming experience, and opportunities to engage with community initiatives such as growing and distributing diversified crops, creating and maintaining school gardens, and enhancing food literacy in educational settings. Over six months of immersive, hands-on learning at the Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a Community Action Year, our Fellows apply their skills in collaboration with local non-profits, fostering increased access to healthy food and empowering community food initiatives. Applications are accepted until March of each year, with the fellowship experience running from May to October.
