Located in South Paris, ME, the Oxford County Food as Medicine Program is dedicated to combating food insecurity among individuals at risk for or managing pre-diabetes. Through our partnership with the National Diabetes Prevention Program, we offer a comprehensive approach that includes fresh, frozen, and shelf-stable food items, alongside essential healthy lifestyle coaching. This free program features engaging cooking skills training through the Cooking Matters Program, weekly distributions of nutritious food accompanied by easy-to-follow recipes, and a supportive environment that encourages physical activity and community connection. Classes run weekly for the first four months and bi-weekly thereafter, fostering an inclusive atmosphere where participants can develop peer relationships while learning vital skills to enhance their health and well-being.
