Based in South Paris, ME, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship at the Allegheny Mountain Institute is dedicated to empowering individuals to advocate for a just and sustainable food system. This unique program, tuition-free to enhance accessibility, invites selected Fellows to engage in hands-on education at our Allegheny Farm Campus for six months, providing them with the skills to promote environmental stewardship, economic equity, and social justice in food production. During their Fellowship, participants learn to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement innovative educational sessions, maintain community gardens, and enhance food literacy in schools. Additionally, they support local farmers markets and direct food access programs while building connections with non-profit organizations. This transformative Fellowship culminates in a Community Action Year, where Fellows apply their knowledge and experiences to make a tangible impact in their communities, all while advocating for healthy food systems and creating equitable access for all.
