The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Pittsfield, ME, offers an inspiring opportunity for individuals dedicated to fostering a fair and sustainable food system. Through comprehensive training and support, we empower our Fellows to emerge as teachers and advocates for social, environmental, and economic justice within the food sector. Our program emphasizes experiential learning at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, where selected Fellows engage in hands-on education about organic food systems. Participants have the chance to collaborate with local partners, growing and distributing diverse crops, implementing health-focused educational sessions, maintaining community gardens, and enhancing food literacy in schools. We also encourage Fellows to nurture farmers markets and develop channels that increase access to healthy foods across the region. With no tuition fees, we strive to ensure accessibility for all passionate individuals eager to make a difference. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience running from May to October, including a transformative six-month residency followed by a Community Action Year.
