The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship based in Orono, ME, is dedicated to fostering a just and sustainable food system by training and empowering individuals to become advocates and educators. Through our immersive program at Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, Fellows engage in hands-on organic food system education that emphasizes social, environmental, and economic justice. We believe in accessibility; thus, we charge no tuition for our Fellowship. Participants gain valuable experience by growing and distributing diverse crops, implementing innovative educational sessions in health care, and supporting community initiatives such as school gardens, farmers markets, and food literacy programs. Over six months, Fellows live and learn on our farm, followed by a Community Action Year where they apply their skills with regional non-profit organizations. Applications are open until March, with the fellowship occurring from May to October each year.
