The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Oakland, ME, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of leaders in the quest for a just and sustainable food system. Through a six-month immersive experience at Allegheny Farm, selected Fellows engage in hands-on education focused on organic farming practices and community empowerment. This fellowship program is entirely tuition-free, ensuring accessibility for all aspiring advocates of food equity. Participants work collaboratively on projects that range from growing diversified crops on a market-style farm to implementing innovative health education sessions, maintaining community gardens, and integrating food literacy into educational curricula. Additionally, they support farmers markets and strengthen distribution channels that enhance access to healthy foods. After their foundational training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, partnering with local non-profits to put their knowledge into action. Applications are accepted until March each year, aligned with the fellowship period from May to October.
