In Norway, ME, the Oxford County Food as Medicine Program is dedicated to ensuring that individuals at risk for or managing pre-diabetes have access to nutritious food and valuable lifestyle support. Partnering with the National Diabetes Prevention Program, we provide participants with fresh, frozen, and shelf-stable food items along with personalized healthy lifestyle coaching in a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. Our free year-long program includes engaging cooking skills training through the Cooking Matters Program, weekly distributions of healthy food bags complete with recipes, and opportunities for physical activity and peer support. Classes convene weekly for the first four months and shift to bi-weekly sessions thereafter, creating a community of shared learning and encouragement.
