New Gloucester, ME US
At the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in New Gloucester, ME, we empower passionate individuals to become effective advocates for a just and sustainable food system. Our program offers comprehensive organic food education, enabling selected Fellows to engage in hands-on training at the Allegheny Farm in Virginia, where they will gain valuable experience over six months of experiential learning. With no tuition fees, we prioritize accessibility, allowing participants to grow diverse crops, promote health education, maintain community gardens, and foster food literacy in schools. Our Fellows are encouraged to take an active role in their communities by supporting farmers markets and developing distribution channels that enhance access to healthy foods. After their time at the farm, participants utilize their knowledge in a Community Action Year, collaborating with local non-profits to create lasting change. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October.
