Limington, ME US
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Limington, ME, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of leaders in sustainable agriculture and food justice. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, our fellowship offers an immersive six-month experience at Allegheny Farm, where Fellows engage in hands-on organic food system education and practical training. We empower our participants to advocate for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic fairness. Throughout the program, Fellows gain vital skills by growing diverse crops on a market-style farm, running educational sessions that promote innovative healthcare practices, managing school and community gardens, and enhancing food and ecological literacy in local schools. After completing their fellowship, participants embark on a Community Action Year, applying their learning with regional non-profits to foster increased access to healthy food, support farmers markets, and strengthen community food initiatives. We believe that an accessible, tuition-free program is essential for developing leaders who can drive change in their communities. Applications are accepted until March each year, and the fellowship experience runs from May to October.
