Gorham, ME US
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Gorham, ME, cultivates passionate advocates and educators dedicated to transforming our food systems toward social, environmental, and economic justice. Our program offers comprehensive organic food system education without tuition fees, ensuring accessibility for all aspiring Fellows. Participants engage in hands-on, experiential learning at our Allegheny Farm Campus, where they grow diverse crops, implement innovative health education sessions, maintain community gardens, and integrate food and ecological literacy into educational activities. As community leaders, selected Fellows will also support farmers markets and develop strategies to enhance access to nutritious food through direct-to-consumer initiatives and coalition-building efforts. Following a six-month training period, each Fellow embarks on a Community Action Year, partnering with regional non-profits to apply the skills they have learned and make a tangible impact. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience running from May to October.
