Located in Gardiner, ME, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to become champions of a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic sustainability. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this unique fellowship provides comprehensive organic food system education without charging tuition, ensuring accessibility for all aspiring leaders. Participants will engage in hands-on experiences at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, and participate in a six-month immersive program that includes growing and distributing diverse crops, hosting educational sessions on innovative health care, maintaining community gardens, and fostering food literacy in schools. Throughout their journey, Fellows will support farmers markets and develop strategies to enhance community access to healthy foods. After their fellowship, they will embark on a Community Action Year, applying their skills alongside regional non-profit organizations to drive meaningful impact. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience running from May to October.
