The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Fort Kent, ME, is dedicated to fostering leaders who advocate for a fair, sustainable food system. This innovative program empowers participants to gain practical experience and knowledge in organic food systems, offering a tuition-free model to enhance accessibility. Selected Fellows engage in hands-on learning at the Allegheny Farm, where they grow diversified crops, facilitate community gardens, and implement educational initiatives that promote food and ecological literacy. Through collaboration with regional non-profits, Fellows also support farmers markets and develop pathways to improve access to healthy food. This program blends experiential learning with community action, culminating in a significant impact on local food systems by mentoring the next generation of leaders. Applications are open until March, with the fellowship experience taking place from May to October each year.
