The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Fairfield, ME, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to advocate for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. Through a comprehensive, hands-on program, selected Fellows engage in organic food system education at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, without any tuition fees to ensure accessibility. This transformative experience includes practical opportunities to grow and distribute diversified crops, implement innovative health care education, maintain community gardens, enhance food and ecological literacy in schools, and support local farmers markets. After an immersive six-month fellowship, participants enter a Community Action Year, applying their knowledge alongside regional non-profit organizations to promote healthy food access and community well-being. Applications are accepted until March each year for experiences running from May to October.
