The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship based in Ellsworth, ME, is dedicated to cultivating a more just food system through education and advocacy. This transformative program empowers Fellows to become leaders in sustainable agricultural practices by providing comprehensive training in organic food systems without charging tuition, ensuring accessibility for all passionate individuals. With hands-on experience at Allegheny Farm, Fellows engage in diverse initiatives such as growing and distributing crops, conducting health-centered educational sessions, managing community gardens, and promoting food and ecological literacy within schools. They also support farmers markets and develop essential distribution channels to enhance access to healthy foods in their communities. Throughout their six-month immersive experience, and during their subsequent Community Action Year, Fellows work closely with regional non-profit organizations, applying their knowledge to real-world challenges and mentoring future leaders.
