The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Durham, ME, is dedicated to cultivating a just and sustainable food system by empowering future leaders through hands-on education and community engagement. This immersive program sponsors Fellows who are trained to be advocates for an organic food system that promotes social, environmental, and economic equity. Without any tuition costs, the Fellowship ensures accessibility for all interested individuals. Over six months at the Allegheny Farm Campus, participants will gain practical experience in growing diversified crops, supporting local farmers markets, creating community and school gardens, and integrating food and ecological literacy into educational programs. Following this experiential training, Fellows will enter a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profit organizations to apply their skills and foster healthier food access in their communities. Potential candidates are encouraged to apply by March, with the experience running from May through October.
