Located in Brunswick, ME, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship is dedicated to training and empowering passionate individuals to become advocates for a just, sustainable food system. This program, offered by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, provides a tuition-free opportunity for Fellows to immerse themselves in organic food system education while engaging in hands-on experiences at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA. Over six months, selected Fellows will gain invaluable skills working on a market-style farm, developing and distributing diversified crops, implementing educational health initiatives, maintaining community gardens, and enhancing food and ecological literacy in schools. After their intensive training, Fellows enter a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profit organizations to promote food assistance and increase access to healthy food options. With a focus on community engagement and social equity, the Fellowship aims to equip future leaders with the tools they need to make lasting impacts in their communities.
