Located in Alfred, ME, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship is dedicated to sponsoring and empowering individuals to become effective advocates and educators for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. This program offers a tuition-free experience designed to increase accessibility, featuring comprehensive training in organic food systems. Selected Fellows engage in hands-on learning at the Allegheny Farm Campus in Virginia, participating in activities such as growing diversified crops and implementing community educational sessions focused on health and nutrition. They also actively contribute to community gardens, support farmers markets, and lay the groundwork for innovative food distribution methods to enhance access to healthy food options. Following their training, Fellows take part in a Community Action Year, collaborating with local non-profits to apply their skills and make a meaningful impact. Applications are accepted until March each year for an immersive experience running from May to October.
