Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Stevensville, MD, offered by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to become advocates for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. This program provides a unique opportunity for selected Fellows to engage in hands-on learning at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, where they will receive comprehensive education in organic food systems without any tuition costs, promoting accessibility. Over a six-month experiential residency, Fellows will gain invaluable skills in producing and distributing diversified crops, leading educational initiatives for health care, maintaining community and school gardens, and enhancing food literacy. Following their residency, they will embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profit organizations to apply their training and support various food-related initiatives, including farmers markets and community food coalitions. Applications are accepted until March each year for a program that typically runs from May to October, creating opportunities for meaningful impact in the local food landscape.
