The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Mechanicsville, MD, is dedicated to cultivating future leaders in sustainable food systems through comprehensive training and experiential learning. This transformative program supports and empowers participants to become advocates for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Over a six-month immersive experience at AMI's Allegheny Farm Campus, Fellows receive in-depth organic food system education, engage in community initiatives such as growing diverse crops on market-style farms, and offer innovative health care education sessions. They work to maintain school and community gardens, promote food literacy in educational settings, and advocate for increased access to fresh, healthy foods within their communities. In addition, Fellows have the opportunity to mentor incoming cohorts and collaborate with regional non-profits during their Community Action Year. The Fellowship is tuition-free to ensure accessibility, with applications open until March each year before the program runs from May through October.
