The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, located in Lexington Park, MD, is dedicated to fostering a just and equitable food system through immersive education and community engagement. We empower our Fellows to become passionate advocates and teachers of sustainable, organic farming practices at our Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA. Without any tuition fees, we prioritize accessibility for all aspiring leaders in the food system. During the six-month experiential program, selected Fellows gain hands-on experience in growing diversified crops, implementing innovative health education, and maintaining community gardens. They also learn to integrate food and ecological literacy into school curricula, support farmers markets, and develop vital distribution channels to enhance access to healthy foods. Following their training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, partnering with regional non-profits to apply their skills and knowledge. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October, creating pathways for meaningful contributions to local food systems.
