Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Hagerstown, MD, empowers individuals to become passionate advocates and educators for a just food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship provides comprehensive training in organic farming and food systems, promoting environmental sustainability, social equity, and economic viability. Throughout the six-month experiential residency at the Allegheny Farm Campus, Fellows engage in hands-on learning opportunities, from growing diverse crops on a market-style farm to implementing educational initiatives in local schools and community gardens. Their work extends beyond the farm as they collaborate with regional non-profits during a Community Action Year, fostering healthy food access and supporting farmers markets and community food coalitions. The fellowship is designed with accessibility in mind, ensuring that tuition-free participation allows a diverse range of individuals to join and advocate for a resilient food system in their communities. Applications are accepted until March, with hands-on experiences occurring from May to October.
