Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, located in Forest Hill, MD, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to advocate for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Through this no-cost fellowship, participants engage in hands-on education at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, where they learn about organic food systems and actively contribute to community initiatives. Fellows undertake various impactful projects such as growing and distributing diverse crops, developing community gardens, and integrating food literacy into educational curricula. By collaborating with local nonprofits, these future leaders will enhance access to healthy foods, support farmers markets, and foster community coalitions, all while mentoring the next generation of advocates. The program features a six-month immersive residential experience followed by a year of community action, making a tangible difference in the local food landscape. Applications are accepted until March, with the fellowship experience typically running from May to October each year.
