The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Easton, MD, is dedicated to sponsoring, training, and empowering individuals who are passionate about advocating for a food system that promotes social, environmental, and economic justice. This immersive program enables selected fellows to engage in hands-on learning at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, while providing them with free access to organic food system education. Participants will cultivate and distribute diverse crops through market-style farming, conduct innovative health care educational sessions, maintain community gardens, and promote food and ecological literacy within schools. Additionally, fellows will support farmers markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives, enhance distribution channels for healthy foods, and collaborate on community food coalition efforts. Following their six-month experiential training, fellows embark on a Community Action Year, applying their knowledge and skills in partnership with regional non-profit organizations. Interested applicants should submit their application by March of the application year, with the program typically running from May to October.
