Jemel Johnson-smith

Jemel Johnson-Smith, LCSW-C, is a dedicated clinical social worker and therapist who understands the universal need for acceptance without judgment. He provides a compassionate and safe environment for clients to explore the challenges that may be hindering them from achieving the fulfilling life they desire. As clients embark on their personal journey of change and growth, Jemel finds great satisfaction in facilitating the exploration of transformative paths that inspire hope for the future. He specializes in individual, group, family, and couples therapy, serving clients aged 5 through older adulthood by employing Solution-Focused Therapy and various other therapeutic models. Common areas of concern that Jemel addresses include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, self-esteem issues, grief and loss, anger management, family conflict, peer conflict, and relational difficulties. With extensive experience working with the LGBTQ+ community, he provides inclusive therapy and is equipped to issue Gender Affirmation Surgery graduate-level letters. Additionally, Jemel serves as a board-approved supervisor for clinical supervision towards LCSW-C licensure in Maryland and is involved in clinical consultation for challenging cases, curriculum development, training, and facilitation. His previous training includes Trauma-Informed Care, Diversity, Inclusion, and community engagement mediation.
