The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Aberdeen, MD, is dedicated to nurturing advocates for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. Through hands-on training and education at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, we empower selected Fellows to engage in a range of impactful initiatives. Our program offers essential organic food system education while ensuring accessibility by not charging tuition. Participants actively contribute to the community by growing diversified crops on market-style farms, leading educational health sessions, maintaining school and community gardens, and integrating food and ecological literacy into local school programs. Additionally, Fellows support farmers markets, develop distribution channels for healthy foods, and collaborate with regional non-profit organizations throughout their Community Action Year. The Fellowship experience runs from May to October, with applications due in March, providing an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about transforming local food systems.
