Pamela Carey

Pamela Carey, LCSW, is a dedicated clinical social worker and therapist with a passion for supporting adolescents and equestrians. She utilizes a non-shame based approach, particularly through Internal Family Systems therapy, which proves effective in addressing self-harming behaviors, acting out, and school refusal. Pamela is also skilled in working with equestrians who have faced trauma, injury, or loss that affects their bond with their beloved horses. The Internal Family Systems theory embraces the idea that each individual inherently possesses the resources needed for growth, and that suffering stems from parts of oneself that carry burdens from both significant and minor traumas. By fostering a safe and judgment-free environment, Pamela enables her clients to explore and unburden the parts that are in distress. She understands the importance of including family members in the healing journey, and when suitable, she involves parents and caregivers in the therapeutic process. With over 13 years of experience as a school social worker at Leominster High School, Pamela is well-versed in navigating Individualized Education Plans, 504 plans, and various school-related concerns.
