The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Topeka, KS, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to become passionate advocates for a fair, sustainable, and economically viable food system. Through hands-on experiences, Fellows engage in organic food system education and collaborate with local partners to cultivate and distribute a variety of crops, enhance school and community gardens, and implement innovative health education initiatives. This Fellowship promotes inclusivity by offering tuition-free participation, ensuring that anyone with a commitment to food justice can join. Over a transformative six-month training period at AMI’s Allegheny Farm, followed by a Community Action Year, participants gain practical skills that empower them to support farmers markets, develop access channels to healthy foods, and mentor future Fellows. Applications are accepted until March each year, with programs running from May to October, encouraging those in the Topeka area to contribute to a more equitable food landscape.
