Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA)

The Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) program in Ottawa, KS, is dedicated to providing comprehensive support and care for patients aged 13 and older who are undergoing treatment for cancer or blood disorders. We understand that this journey can be challenging, which is why our multidisciplinary team—comprising social workers, child life specialists, nutritionists, nurses, and physicians—works collaboratively to address the unique needs of each patient. We offer a range of specialized services including nutrition planning, fertility counseling, and emotional support, all aimed at ensuring a holistic approach to treatment. As patients transition to adult care at age 21, we facilitate a seamless handover to adult Hematology/Oncology providers to ensure continued support. At AYA, we prioritize patient and family input, continuously seeking feedback to enhance our services and the quality of care provided, making sure that every individual's experience is met with warmth and understanding.
