The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship based in Leawood, KS, empowers individuals to champion a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Through our unique program, we offer immersive training at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, where selected Fellows engage deeply in organic food system education. Our initiative promotes accessibility by waiving tuition fees, enabling a diverse group of participants to learn and thrive. Fellows actively contribute to sustainable agriculture by growing and distributing varied crops, facilitating educational sessions in health care, maintaining school and community gardens, and integrating food literacy into educational settings. They also support farmers markets and develop distribution channels to enhance access to nutritious foods. The fellowship includes a six-month experiential stay followed by a Community Action Year, where graduates apply their skills in collaboration with regional non-profits. Interested candidates should submit their applications by March, with the program running from May to October.
