The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Junction City, KS, empowers emerging leaders to advocate for a food system that is socially, environmentally, and economically just. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this program offers a comprehensive, tuition-free education in organic food systems, allowing Fellows to grow and distribute diverse crops on a market-style farm, lead educational sessions for health initiatives, maintain community gardens, and teach food and ecological literacy within schools. During their six-month residential training at the Allegheny Farm Campus, selected Fellows gain hands-on experience and prepare for their Community Action Year, where they will collaborate with local non-profit organizations to enhance accessible food channels, support farmers markets, and engage in community food coalitions. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May through October.
