Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA)

The Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) program in Independence, KS is dedicated to providing comprehensive support and treatment for patients aged 13 and older who are battling cancer or blood disorders. Our compassionate team, which includes social workers, child life specialists, nutritionists, physicians, and nurses, works collaboratively with patients and their families to address the unique challenges faced during treatment. We offer essential services like nutrition planning, fertility counseling, and individualized emotional support to ensure that our adolescent and young adult patients receive the highest quality of care. As patients transition into adult care after age 21, we coordinate seamlessly with adult Hematology/Oncology providers, striving to make each step as smooth as possible. We actively encourage feedback from patients and families to continually enhance our services, emphasizing our commitment to meet the specific needs of young individuals undergoing treatment.
