Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Girard, KS, fosters a new generation of advocates dedicated to creating a food system that upholds social, environmental, and economic justice. This immersive program empowers selected Fellows through comprehensive training at the Allegheny Farm, where they engage in organic food system education that is accessible for all, as there is no tuition fee. During their six-month experiential fellowship, participants not only learn about sustainable agriculture but also take part in a variety of community-focused initiatives, such as growing and distributing diversified crops, maintaining school gardens, and promoting food literacy programs. Following their fellowship, they collaborate with regional non-profits during their Community Action Year, implementing vital projects that enhance access to healthy foods through farmers markets and direct-to-consumer channels. Applications are welcomed until March each year, with the fellowship experience typically occurring from May to October, making it a timely opportunity for those passionate about transforming local food systems.
