Located in Chanute, KS, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship is dedicated to cultivating a socially, environmentally, and economically just food system. Through comprehensive training and empowerment, the fellowship sponsors aspiring leaders to become advocates for equitable food practices. Selected Fellows will engage in a six-month immersive experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus, where they will receive organic food system education. They will collaborate with local partners to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement innovative health education sessions, maintain community and school gardens, and promote food and ecological literacy. Additionally, the program fosters support for farmers markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives while working to enhance access to healthy foods through community food coalition activities. By mentoring new cohorts and actively participating in regional non-profit organizations during their Community Action Year, Fellows play a crucial role in driving impactful change in the local food landscape. Applications are accepted until March each year, and the fellowship experience typically runs from May to October.
