The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Quincy, IL is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of advocates and educators in sustainable food systems. By providing an inclusive and accessible training experience at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, we empower our Fellows to champion a food system that is socially, environmentally, and economically just. Our program offers comprehensive organic food system education, enabling Fellows to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement innovative health care educational sessions, and maintain community gardens. We focus on integrating food and ecological literacy into school programs, supporting local farmers markets, and developing effective distribution channels to enhance access to healthy foods. Over a six-month immersive training period, followed by a Community Action Year, Fellows collaborate with regional non-profits to apply their skills and knowledge in real-world settings. To join our movement, applications are due by March each year, with the experiential learning taking place from May to October.
