Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

New Lenox, IL US
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in New Lenox, IL, is dedicated to training and empowering future leaders in the creation of a food system that is equitable for all. We believe in the importance of social, environmental, and economic justice within the food landscape. Our Fellowship offers a six-month immersive experience at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, where Fellows receive hands-on organic food system education at no cost, ensuring accessibility for all participants. Throughout their time, Fellows engage in vital community projects, including growing and distributing diverse crops, maintaining school gardens, and implementing innovative educational sessions. After this practical training, they embark on a Community Action Year, working with local non-profits to apply their knowledge and skills for greater community impact. Whether it's through supporting farmers markets, developing distribution channels for healthier food access, or integrating food literacy into school curriculums, our Fellows are poised to make a real difference. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May through October.
