The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, located in Joliet, IL, is dedicated to cultivating a sustainable and equitable food system through education and advocacy. This empowering program welcomes individuals who aspire to be leaders in the food movement, offering a tuition-free experience that makes involvement accessible to all. Participants engage in hands-on training and support, focusing on organic food systems, establishing market-style farms, and promoting health education through innovative community initiatives. Fellows have the opportunity to manage school and community gardens, enhance food and ecological literacy in educational settings, and strengthen local food access by supporting farmers markets and community food coalitions. The immersive six-month residency at the Allegheny Farm Campus is followed by a Community Action Year, where Fellows apply their skills with regional non-profits. Interested individuals can apply by March of the application year, with the fellowship experience running from May to October.
