Mark Mitchell is a passionate and results-oriented marriage and family therapist who is dedicated to fostering hope and empowerment in those dealing with stress. He specializes in helping individuals enhance their primary relationships and move forward in life. Mark employs a strength-based approach that includes solution-focused techniques, Gottman relational methods, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and, when appropriate, nature-based therapy to achieve outcomes defined by his clients. With expertise in short-term therapy, he also utilizes the scientifically-backed Gottman model to address couple issues. Mark provides counseling to individuals, couples, families, and groups and is particularly known for his work with men’s issues, addictions, and family strengthening. He serves as an instructor at Loyola Marymount University and CSUDH in addiction studies and marriage and family therapy, and co-chairs the behavioral health team at the Los Angeles Veterans Collaborative. His extensive experience includes roles such as a critical incident debriefer during the 1992 L.A. riots and serving as a family therapist for the National Basketball Association's substance abuse program.
