Nickie Matus

Nickie Matus is a compassionate therapist and clinical social worker with a wealth of experience that spans diverse, multicultural environments. She has worked with clients from various backgrounds, including the LGBTQIA community, individuals involved in the criminal justice system, those facing substance use disorders, survivors of trauma, Indigenous populations, and those grappling with anxiety and depression. Those who feel stuck, unmotivated, or challenged in managing emotions will find a supportive ally in Nickie. Her therapeutic approach is tailored, reflecting the understanding that therapy is not 'one size fits all.' With training in EMDR Therapy, Flash Technique, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and culturally competent treatment, she brings a versatile toolkit to her practice. Nickie's extensive life experiences enrich her ability to connect with individuals from all walks of life. As a certified substance use disorder counselor for over 12 years, she holds an Associate's Degree in Human Services - Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counseling, as well as Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from Humboldt State University, with a focus on Indigenous and rural communities. Nickie’s practice centers on mood disorders and enhancing coping skills, fostering resilience and empowerment in her clients' journey towards mental health and wellness.
