Karmel Mayo

Karmel Mayo, LPC, is a dedicated therapist known for her genuine warmth, acceptance, and encouragement. She specializes in helping individuals of all ages—including preteens, teens, adults, and elders—navigate stressful and painful events in their lives. Whether someone is struggling at home, work, or school, Karmel is there to truly listen and provide support. Her expertise encompasses managing anxiety, depression, PTSD, and addiction, along with a range of general issues such as chronic pain and life transitions. Karmel employs a variety of therapy types, including trauma-focused, cognitive behavioral (CBT), and person-centered approaches, ensuring a tailored treatment plan that meets each client's unique needs. With years of experience in counseling, including work in the foster care and educational systems, Karmel graduated from the University of Alabama’s Rehabilitation Counseling MA program, focusing on recovery. She believes in the inherent capacity of every individual to reach for holistic well-being of the mind, body, and soul. Together, clients and Karmel can explore pathways to health and well-being.
