Elders Program

APIA's Elders Program in Ketchikan, Alaska, is dedicated to enriching the lives of seniors by providing essential support services and assistance with basic needs. Our comprehensive offerings include caregiver training, case management, and access to durable medical equipment, ensuring that older adults can maintain their independence and health. We also provide consumer-directed personal care assistant services, respite services, and critical fall and injury prevention education. To support financial well-being, we assist with Medicare and Medicaid applications. The program also fosters community connection through the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), monthly Elder Food Boxes, and engaging monthly teas and potlucks. Additionally, we offer elder transportation services within the Anchorage area, advocacy and support, and access to valuable resources. Our initiatives like Gatekeeper Training and Older Adult Mental Health First Aid Training are designed to empower both seniors and caregivers, highlighting our commitment to creating a caring and supportive environment for the elders in our community.
