Mommy Tummy

craterlake November 22nd, 2023

For all the moms out there, do you struggle with mommy tummy? I had my last kid 5 years ago, been through 3 cesarians. I can't seem to tighten up my lower mommy tummy and it really bothers me. I try to wear some sexy lingerie but the front is cut so dang narrow and my mommy tummy just doesn't look that great (at least to me) when it's not covered. Anyone been through this, currently dealing with it, or have suggestions to cope or fix? In all vanity I wouldn't be above getting a tummy tuck but it would have to be at the bottom of a big line of other things I'm working on myself first like general weight loss, removing tonsils, maybe some permanent hair removal, and getting regular doctor appointments. Sorry for the vanity but I want to look and feel good going into my 40s. They are closer than I'd like.

@craterlake I understand that dealing with body image concerns can be challenging, and it's completely normal to want to look and feel good. Remember that many moms go through similar experiences, and you're not alone in this journey. It's great that you're prioritizing your overall health and well-being.

In the meantime, have you tried incorporating exercises that target the abdominal muscles into your fitness routine? Engaging in activities like Pilates or core-strengthening exercises could potentially help tone your lower tummy. Additionally, focusing on a balanced diet and staying hydrated can contribute to overall health and weight management.
It's also important to remember that self-love and acceptance are key. Celebrate the amazing things your body has accomplished through childbirth and embrace your journey. Confidence comes from within, and feeling good about yourself goes beyond physical appearance. How do you currently approach self-care and self-acceptance in your life?

Hi Dear,

I completely understand what you must be going through! Happens with many of us..Though there have been good suggestions from some of the concerned members/listeners here, I will add few points of my own. Incorporating healthy lifestyle is the key, which also includes mental well-being as well. Not to compare with anyone else, but how better you have got from your previous-self is important. Day-by-Day improvement..

I would suggest few things which you can try out, if you haven't

Incorporate Strength Training:

  • Include strength training exercises to build muscle and boost metabolism. Focus on core-strengthening exercises like planks, squats, and lunges.

  • Healthy Eating Habits:
  • Adopt a balanced and nutritious diet. Include plenty of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. Pay attention to portion control and avoid excessive consumption of processed foods and sugary snacks.

  • Limit Alcohol Intake:
  • While moderate alcohol consumption may not necessarily hinder weight loss, excessive intake can contribute to excess calories. Moderation or reducing alcohol can be a part of a healthy lifestyle.
  • Get Enough Sleep:

Ensure you are getting sufficient sleep. Lack of sleep can interfere with weight loss efforts and overall well-being.

Mindful Eating:

Pay attention to what you eat and practice mindful eating. This involves being present while eating, savoring each bite, and recognizing when you're full.

There are other things as well, but I guess these are the few basics which needs to be incorporated. Feel free to message me for one-on-one discussion! will be happy to help 🙂

Dressing to hide your tummy is all about the art of distraction. A top with an interesting neckline draws the eye up, puts the focus on your chest and face, and takes attention away from your tummy. V-Necks Lengthen

Wearing a top that opens up your chest area and reveals some skin makes your neck look longer and your whole body leaner.

Shoulder Detail  Distracts

A neckline with added shoulder detail also works because it tricks the eye to look up at your shoulders and not down at your tummy.

the off-the-shoulder is a fantastic way to look sexy in a subtle way, all while taking the emphasis off a jelly belly.

Chemises can be elegant, youthful, or downright raunchy. There is also a plethora of styles, which lets you choose which one works best for you. A chemise that fits close to your chest before loosely flowing out from just beneath your breasts is an excellent option if you’re looking to cover your stomach.  there’s nothing childish about babydoll lingerie. These delicate tops are much like a chemise, but with the added benefit of being a bit more risqué. Babydolls are a type of nightdress with an empire waistline (one that’s right under the bust), and flaring out below it. This loose cut means they skim over the middle of your body, easily hiding your belly. They often include slits and transparent fabrics that fall lightly just around your hips. That way, you can show off your matching underwear. The best part? Babydolls tend to fit snuggly around your chest before billowing outward. This style emphasizes your breasts while also providing protective cover for any bumps or lumps you’d like to keep hidden. They’re also both whimsical and youthful, creating the perfect mix of innocence and desire.
