Lurker looking for a connection
Greeting. My name is Jenn. I've been a lurker on the site for awhile now, but it's as this craziness has swept through the world that I realized maybe I need to come out of the woodwork. I'm not going stircrazy at home; it doesn't bother me as aside from work, I spend a substantial part of my time here. I don't have friends, just my mom who I help care for, and my cats.
A bit about me: I'm 37 years old and live in Central Pennsylvania, though originally I am from Southeast Pennsylvania. Currently I work as a business administrator and human resource coordinator for a local media company. As I mentioned above, I live with my mom and step-father. Mom has some ongoing health issues and can use the help and step-father travels normally for his job. Typically this works out well for all.
Aside from working in a job I love, I spend my time crafting, crocheting, randomly moving about online, video games, computer games, writing, reading, and genealogy. History is a passion of mine and I love reading about it as well as watching period dramas and historical shows.

Hey Jenn, well done for reaching out. I hope you find the companionship you need on here. 7cups can be a great place.
You have some fascinating interests. I feel called to some of the same things. Especially history. Geneaology too. I'm a professional writer myself and love reading too (though I would always wish to read more than I do, I just get too inspired and usually put down the book to go and write something myself haha)
You should check out the tv show 'Vikings' as well as 'Tudors'. I found them fascinating. They aren't purist in terms of the historical side of things. It is television entertainment, from one of my favourite writers, Michael Hirst.
Take care now. :)

Hello Jenn! I feel similar about not having many friends. Those that I trust the most live far away. I wish I had ones closer to meet up and walk with. But you can't be too trusting now a days

Hey Jenn, I'm glad you're here! Firstly, I want to acknowledge what I'm hoping is a West Wing reference in your username! One of my all-time favorite shows.
You and I have a ton of similar interests! I'm trying to teach myself to crochet in all of this craziness. I also LOVE history and just graduated with my undergrad degree in it! I'm also a huge book worm and am always on the lookout for some good historical fiction. I'm currently working through one about Queen Margaret of Scotland that is just wonderful called Queen Hereafter.
I understand what you mean about feeling lonely, but I think something really cool that's happening right now is that because so many of us are isolated there are a ton of online communities and activities popping up where we can reach out and find our "tribe". Looking for online classes, lectures etc. has been super helpful for me right now!

Someone else who likes The West Wing! Yes, the name comes from West Wing. I was trying to figure out a name that wouldn't easily associate me in other plaes on the net and happened to be watching that episode. It just fits with the meaning.
I would love to find a tribe. I haven't had one in over twenty years and I feel so...alone. Even though I'm not if that makes sense. I just haven't found a tribe.
Do you have a favorite author in Historical Fiction?
