who can we go to if we want to edit or delete a comment or thread?
I think it would be helpful for everyone to have information available that they can easily refer to if they want to edit merge or delete a comment or thread that they make since unfortunately at this time we cannot do that ourselves so users here should know both who they can go to and also when that person is available and can be helpful when it comes to editing comments and threads. So i started this thread for this purpose as a community resource for people
If anyone feels this thread should be moved or edited including this intro to be more effective or visible to more people feel free to do that please (i dont think it would hurt also to have this compliled information available in different places for people to see) maybe the people who are able to edit can comment here and give current information about their availability but a simple list of who these people are for now would be incredibly helpful im sure for a lot of people here both new and old i know of only 1 person although i have no clue about when Erato is available
Forum key holders, forum supporters and forum mentors have the ability to edit/delete posts. The difference between them is that forum key holders (specifically for their own projects in the forum) and forum supporters can only edit/delete their own posts and not anyone else's. Forum mentors can edit/delete any forum posts but I believe it's recommended to edit/delete forum posts for moderation within the subcommunities they're involved in (most especially if a forum mentor is community centered) unless someone requests for their post to be edited/deleted and if the forum mentor is global. (Correct me if I'm wrong)
My availability:
Weekdays: 6am to 11am EST
Weekends: 1am to 11am EST
Tagging forum ambassadors @Mel @Anomalia (former forum ambassador: @Monbon - if it's okie) and forum project agents: @PhoenixAsh, @Imogene, @SoulfullyAButterfly, @River, @Emily619, @windflowers to let them know about this suggestion/idea c:
@Erato Thanks for the tag! And I like the idea and the original need to share availability or what everyone can do to efficiently help out when required!
It is true, I believe, that only global moderators would be able to edit/delete posts in all areas, otherwise Forum Mentors are only able to do so in their respective communities.
@SoulfullyAButterfly that would be a helpful thing to know also who is a global mod who can edit anywhere and who is a forum mod who can only edit comments in specific communities and what those communities are (maybe anyone that comes across this thread can tag people who can edit who has not been tagged or just add their info im assuming it wouldnt be difficult to edit or update any info here ha)
@jennysunrise8
A list of global forum mentor can be found here and a list of global forum teen stars can be found here.
Community centered forum mentors can be found in the leadership list for whichever subcommunity they are a forum mentor for. You can find this by going to the page of the particular subcommunity then clicking the leaders link on the community menu and scroll down until you see the forum mentor/Teen star heading.
@Erato Also forum member leaders, although there's no visible badge listing for members.
@AffyAvo @jennysunrise8
True - you can see how many have them here though. Global forum member leaders are listed here as well; they're the ones with the square profile pictures.
@windflowers best place to find all of the members is here! Our project agents keep our tag lists regularly updated!
@Mel
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought this shows only the members of the forum team and not the member members of the forum team?
Hello all! Indeed, Forum Supporters and Forum Key holders can edit their own posts. Forum Supporters (listeners and member badge) are the first level of forum leadership - they can edit their own posts within the subcommunities they're part of! Forum Key is a project based badge used by those that specifically need it for project managing. Forum Mentor/Stars (listeners) and Forum Member Leader (members) badges are the second level of leadership for the forums! They're the mods of the forums and can edit everybody's posts within their subcommunities! (or any if they're global). Forum Mentor/Star Leader and Forum Member Project Leader are the third level of forum leadership and forum ambassador are the fourth.
@Anomalia and myself are the forum ambassadors at the time and while our availability is quite open (Ano is mostly online Mon-Thu from 10AM-6PM and I'm mostly online during the evenings!) you can always email us at forum@7Cups.com for any forum inquiries! You can find our most up to date taglist here! The taglist includes all forum supporters, forum mentors, global forum mentors and all forum leaders!
@Mel thank you for explaining what the different roles are and what they can do with editing and sharing when your available you and Ano as forum ambassadors that means your both global mods that can edit anywhere? is everyone in a level 3 or 4 role a global mod?
@jennysunrise8 yes! Ano and I can edit any post, create new subforums or forum categories and add to leaders lists of any subcommunity (only ambassadors can do this). Forum Mentor Leaders can edit any post as well.
I remember, when signing up as a listener here (AFAIK, I don't have a member account), that I was asked to fill in a rota / availability sheet.
I've never seen it since nor have any idea if others are able to see this, nor if I can alter it.
My availablilty might change more frequently than I change my underwear.
I believe that there was a solution presented that involved using a 3rd party scheduling system, however this - IMHO - compromised anonymity (I would have taken only a reverse image search could find out who I was, so my profile photo is no longer used - hopefully no longer cached - anywhere else on the internet) and required the creation and checking of yet another email account.
I'm unsure as to why the site doesn't offer this rota / schedule service as part of the package, nor make it transparent or easily available so that any user might find it easier to manage - if such a thing as schedule or availability is something that is required.
We're drilled to not take notes on any interaction with a member.
But by using 3rd party software/systems - we are, essentially, doing exactly what we've been told to not do, while also making this infomation public to anyone who might look.
This past weekend I had around 300 emails in my spam folder and about 100 in my inbox. 99% of them were trash.
No-one can see the post-it notes with initials and times stuck to the board in the 7 Cups colour that comprises part of my organisational system, but - there aren't any, because I try to keep to my initial rota (which I do not think anyone - including myself - can see).
Perhaps I'm simply lucky to not have ever had need to make use of the rota / scheduling system beyond a casual check-in or agreement to meet around a particular time (which often doesn't happen because [insert reasons], as now, as I attend to 5 other repeat conversations that have no schedule), or simply because I've learned that a regular member is around at this certain time.
While for me, it might be morning - for them it could last night or this evening, sometimes tomorrow or yesterday. So there's something about displaying a schedule based upon local time-zones. My 0900 might be somone else's 2300 or 1300.
But - having a sub-section on a profile page that displays an availability rota, in the viewer's local time, that could be edited, and only the person who made the rota can see anything other than "green / orange / red" - this would be useful.
No-one else can see my notes on the site (not that I use that feature) and - again - there's no way for anyone to see these notes (that I might use for scheduling), nor do they prompt or remind me, and - again - there's the potential to break a rule by noting information that we're honour-bound to not do.
My email updates are set to be once a week, except in certain instances.
I haven't received an email from this site for months, unless it has been in response to an email or form that I have submitted.
While I have several emails that are used for different purposes - the majority of them are now considered to be "temporary emails" and are unable to be used to create a member account.
Not wanting to create a whole new persona on a "real" email service, such as gmail - which allows a whole bunch of back-traceing - I simply don't have the ability to create a member account - and I'm not using a 3rd party scheduling / rota service because:
1) I don't want to have to create a whole new system in order to achieve something that might be implemented on-site.
2) I don't wish to have a public schedule outside of this site, for this site - not least because it's something that already half-exists.
3) There's an issue with anonymity.
4) Using off-site resources to do such a thing "breaks the seal" and therefore raises the possibility of off-site connection.
5) No way am I using the 7 Cups app.
I can't edit my typos or grammar - so I have to rota that in through an extensive and time-consuming process.
As a listener your personal schedule is found here. Alternatively, click your own icon at the top right and choose My Schedule from the menu. I have never used it and I don't know what it's for.
My member account, by the way, has the opposite problem. 7 Cups refused to "verify" my real e-mail address, but when I changed it to a fake one it "verified" that!
In general, things at 7 Cups don't necessarily make sense overall. It's like an Escher drawing—parts of it seem to make some kind of sense in isolation, but taken as a whole it's wildly illogical. This seems to me to be a result of 7 Cups' early history.
Additionally, there's a systemic disconnection between the functional parts of 7 Cups and the technology. Tech solutions to simple practical problems that might seem obvious to you and me have always turned out to be almost impossible for 7 Cups to implement on-site. I don't know what could have caused this (although I have some suspicions).
Thus the conventional scheduling solution is to use an off-site schedule.
@PeterMA
Ahh, nice one - I always wondered what that button did.
In fact, I didn't even know it was there, even having looked at it several times.
It's a shame it appears no-one else can see it but me, otherwise it might more useful without having to resort to that off-site.
I would know that my schedule that I set ages ago isn't the same as it is now, due to ... idk ... life, commitment, responsibilities and re-runs of the Ren & Stimpy show.
Escher was certainly a great artist.
Kokichi Sugihara also shows some particular high-level skill in the illusion department, as does Akiyoshi Kitaoka who produces some very effective visual illusions as part of their research into psychology:

(Your tea has not been spiked, but fair warning - it can feel that way).
I also found Charles Benham to have some interesting ideas and experimental "toys", regarding Fechner Colours, back when I was researching into visual function and going through an Op Art phase.
Turned out that the technique I was trying to develop so that sterescopic images were possible to be seen using only one eye (I called it "ofuglyphic monoscopsis" from pidgen Olde Englif and Latin) was already being pursued by the entertainment industry so that people don't have to wear 3D glasses for their 3D movies.
Worked in about 2/3 cases, usually when people judged distance by tone or measured perspective/depth cues - similar to Escher's spatial illusions.
Usually other artists. Most kids could see it perfectly (malleable brains, them nippers). But I think that some people were swayed by "Emperor's New Clothes" and didn't want to be the only one who couldn't see it. Especially those who had large Shadows.
Worked better with faces or anything with eyes, didn't bother with it much after learning about the other research - probably something to do with saccadic attention, pareidolia and induced prosopagnosia.
Dunno, got bored and wandered off after discovering some corporation with loadsamoney labs is ahead of the broke mad scientist's kitchen Again.
I just wanted my blind-in-one-eye painter friend to be able to see some of the 3D images and holograms.
Managed that, so mission accomplished, I guess.
Oh yeah, that was right - it only worked on a back-lit screen and not in print or paint.
Over my head and paycheck.
Thanks for the reminder to alter my schedule (even though I'm usure it makes a difference).
Also to check up on how that research is going. Can't remember the guy's name... Vishwaneth or something.
(Strange sense of "fun", but... you know... Idle hands and all that)
