Our Mission

GlenM February 15th, 2015

I started this section and called it Glens nook. I plan on hanging out here more often. Ill listen, share my thinking with you, and hope to get to know many of you as we continue to grow our community.

We wanted to share our mission with you before publishing it. We believe that every voice is important and every voice matters. Please share your thoughts on our mission below.

Our Mission:

7 Cups of Tea is for anyone who wants to live in a world where the human experience is free from stigma and stereotypes and rich with love and support. A world where all 7 billion of us can grow and feel like we truly belong.

We believe that each one of us is inherently valuable. We do not measure people based on where they are from, what they look like, or what position they hold. We recognize that people make sense in the larger story of their lives. We understand that people are complicated and that life is not simple or easy.

We are all on the same path. Some of us are just starting out. Others are further down the road. No matter where we are, being kind, compassionate, and accepting of one another enables us all to grow.

We do not tolerate people being mean, harmful, or rejecting of others. We do not judge or look down on people.

Although there are forces that tend to disempower and create division, we stand together as we compassionately care for and champion one another. We see our differences as a strength. We are united in our shared goal of creating a place where all can find acceptance and be welcomed to a home where we all belong.

Our Goal: We are living in a world with an immense love deficit, which means that none of us is receiving the love we need to reach our true potential, to truly thrive. Our goal is to build a support system, a web, that can hold every member of our world. We believe that we can fill that love-gap for every person in the world, either because they are an active member of our community or because they are touched personally by someone who has been empowered by 7 Cups of Tea. We will reach this goal when we provide 100 million positive and supportive conversations each and every week.

Another thing to add: Perhaps skip the "Impossible" in "Our Impossible Goal"...because how will you ever reach something if you believe it to be impossible?

I agree with this. I'm not too keen on the all-or-nothing idea here. I also think that though many of us feel that we are not loved enough to reach our full potential, that is not a universal feeling. Maybe it should be that some/many of us feel that way, instead of all of us

Yes that is more inclusive and it eliminates the all or nothing view.

brainstorm using the word unstoppable.... Somewhere.... The 7CupsofTea vision is unstoppable against those forces that want to divide us... I just like that word...Unstoppable. Even if it does not fit with the manifesto Or sound right when spoken out loud... And yet that word comes to mind when I think of all the hard work love support time and energy thatso many continue to give to grow this site and to reach all those in need of love and support. The lovebehind 7 cups is truly unstoppable:)

@luvtorun, where would you put it in here? I like that word as well. It sounds like 7 cups is inevitable and like we will reach our goal, which, of course I believe we will :)

I am so excited to be a part of this! It has given me great joy to watch 7cups expand and Improve on so many levels! It is a wonderful manifesto! If you do not have an angel investor I hope you find one:). I know your goal is attainable.

I don't understand we're is setting on here

LucianVincent February 16th, 2015

I don't believe our goal is impossible! That word should be banned here!

diplomaticWater127 February 16th, 2015

I had no idea this site was so wide spread its amazing

luvtorun February 16th, 2015

Glen please look into the meaning movement by Dan Cumberland. I have been following his fearless February experiment and I think it will resonate with your goal and vision for 7 cups. I think it will propel you and the team in a great direction.

Perhaps Mission or Mission Statement would be better than Manifesto?

I don't know if it's just me, but when I think of manifesto I immediately think of the UCSB shooter.

I don't know what Manifestiomeansso changing the name would be good I agree something easier to read and doesn't sound so old. Like I think of old and a museum when I see that word.

SeekerofPeace February 16th, 2015

Unfortunately, the term "manifesto" has often come to be associated with a long message that some have communicated before they carry outdestructive acts such a bombings or shootings. We may want to find other words that don't have this association. Mission, vision, purpose are all possibilities. The specific word or label is less important than what the message actually conveys and the power of the message.

Discover who we are and assist each other the best we can to find answers in ourselves for ourselves phycology is finding triggers and what sets us off once we realize we can begin to heal ourselves.
