Structure

Novelwriter March 19th

Hi.  I didn't know whether or not i should post it but i really need some information or guides or something i can read.

Is it normal to crave punishment?

So I was abused as a child, lived with 4 different families and grew up in a children's home.

I just have this desire so much for rules and consequences. Maybe I didn't have enough structure as a child?

Is there any exercise or something i can read that will stop me from asking people to be strict with me.

Kind regards.

@Novelwriter.  I was able to find this from 7cups.  I wondered if it could be trauma related. What do you think?

@It's not uncommon for individuals who have experienced childhood abuse or trauma to develop a desire for structure and consequences. This can stem from a variety of factors, including a lack of stability or boundaries during childhood. One helpful approach to addressing this desire for punishment or strictness is through therapy, particularly with a therapist who specializes in trauma or childhood abuse. Therapy can provide a safe space to explore the underlying reasons for these feelings and develop healthier coping mechanisms.
