Psychologists perpetuating mental health stigma
How do we recover when those we trust to treat us define us as something other than normal? This psychologist groups people as children elderly, clinical and normal. He is a supposed trauma expert with nearly 50 years of experience.

Hi littlelubin. Thanks for sharing this. I agree with you that mental health can sometimes contribute to harm and that it is a terrible thing considering that they are supposed to be the non-judgemental folks that are trustworthy. And that is why it is both okay and important to check in with how we feel about whatever someone is telling us about ourselves. If it doesn't ring true, we don't have to accept it. On a personal note, as a non-binary queer person, I have had both good and bad experiences with mental health practitioners. Reflecting on the bad experiences, those have been the ones to teach me, the mental health community is not always right/trustworthy and neither are therapists/psychologists. It is good to be choosy. Best to you :)
