I don't know much about the disorder. I just want to be able to talk to people who do.

How do you manage PTSD and what personally helps you?

@resourcefulBirch2863

Hi resourceful... you are in the right place. Many here have PTSD. I hope they will join in and share with you their experiences and strengths. Here is a post you might want to read on coping. So glad you're here! You're definitely not alone.

http://www.moodjuice.scot.nhs.uk/ This site may be useful to you, as they have a self help guide on post traumatic stress disorder should you feel this could be of benefit/use to you. Please feel free to seek any support you need and if you need a listening ear, I am more than happy to chat with you, as would others here, if it would help. There are others here in the ptsd community who can appreciate what you may be going through. This may help you to feel less alone.

@dancingRainbow45 If you suffer with flashbacks or get triggered by certain situations, etc, it may well be worth thinking about some grounding exercises to help with the panic and anxiety that may arise for you, relaxation/deep breathing techniques. Sometimes it can help to write your feelings down, perhaps express them in poetry. It can also feel good to have one supportive person in your life that you feel able to turn to for support.
