The Gratitude Project: List 3 Things That You Are Grateful For...
by LisaMeighanMScGMBPsS
Last post

...See more Hi there, Today we will learn a little more about gratitude and learn how to express this. Studies have shown that if you practice daily gratitude practice, it can make you feel happier and improve your health. What is Gratitude? Gratitude is the expression of appreciation for what one already has and not ones future desires or hopes. It is generated from within. This social emotion strengthens relationships, and its roots run deep in evolutionary history, and it stems from the survival value of helping others and being helped in return. Studies show that specific areas of the brain are involved in experiencing and expressing gratitude. Brain scans of people assigned a task that stimulates gratitude show lasting changes in the prefrontal cortex that heighten sensitivity to future experiences of gratitude, thus feeling happier and healthier. Please list 3 things that you are grateful for and share daily if you feel comfortable to do so!

Day 1: 25 Days of Gratitude, Self-Care and Personal Growth for 2024!
by LisaMeighanMScGMBPsS

Tuesday
...See more Hi everyone! Happy 1st December and time goes so quickly. I'm excited to start a 25-day challenge focused on gratitude, self-care, and personal growth for 2024. Those of you may remember that we did this last year and as it was so popular it might be useful to continue. This journey is for anyone looking to nurture their mental health, cultivate positive and perhaps even new habits, and find more joy in their daily lives. Why 25 Days? * Small Steps, big impact: We'll break down larger goals into manageable daily tasks. * Habit formation: 25 days is a useful time frame to establish new habits. * Community support: We'll be here to encourage and support each other throughout the challenge. What to Expect: * Daily prompts and engaging therapeutic content: Each day, we'll share prompts related to gratitude, self-care, or personal growth. * A safe sharing space: Feel free to share your thoughts, experiences, and progress in the comments. * Community support: Let's create a positive and supportive space for everyone. Let's Get Started! We are excited that you're on this journey with us at 7 Cups! Remember: * Be kind to yourself: It's okay to miss a day or two or even five. Just pick up where you left off and all are welcome to participate! * Progress, not perfection: Focus on making small improvements each day. * Celebrate your wins: No matter how small, acknowledge your achievements. 🌻 Let's make this a month of positive change and it’s okay if you are not feeling as positive as you would like to be. We understand that sometimes no matter what you believe, the holiday season can be challenging for many reasons, we are here for you and you may find some of our prompts and content helpful.  Day 1: What is one thing you’ve done recently to take care of your mental health and well-being, and how did it make you feel? June 28th
...See more Hi everyone! Welcome to an AMA (ask me anything) in the "The Therapist's Office" with Dr. Joe Nelson, therapist of 7 Cups online therapy program. To learn more about them check out their profile. [https://www.7cups.com/therapists/profiles/Joe-Nelson-DrJoeNelsonLCSW/]  This is an AMA thread is closed to new questions as of 6-27-24. The therapist’s answers to your questions will follow sometime within a week after the thread is started, in this case after the 27th of June 2024. To subscribe, so you can follow this thread and the therapist's answers, either post a question in this thread and/or hit the subscribe button in the upper right to get alerts when new posts are made to this thread. We welcome your questions, but what type of questions should I ask? We welcome any questions that are related to LGBTQIA+ and experiences and challenges. You may also want to ask questions about therapy and coping skills for particular challenges you face. Please avoid asking the therapist for specific advice like "should I date this guy after meeting him online?" You may ask the therapist for coping options with the particular mental health challenges you face and they can share suggestions that you may want to consider, but this is not an advice column. It is more like a place to learn about how online therapy at 7 Cups could help you deal with life and the many challenges it presents. If you have any customer service-related questions please email support@7cups.com as they cannot be answered in this thread. Finally, please avoid questions about medication as these are best suited to be answered by your physician, and anything not normally discussed in 7 Cups forums. If you have a question about this thread, please feel free to PM either one of us https://www.7cups.com/@amiablePeace77 or www.7cups.com/@soulsings [http://www.7cups.com/@soulsings] I am subscribed to this thread and eager to hear your questions and the therapist's answers. More on Dr. Joe Nelson can be found here https://www.7cups.com/therapists/profiles/Joe-Nelson-DrJoeNelsonLCSW/ Members only can apply for 7 Cups Online therapy (a paid option) at this link http://www.7cups.com/online-therapy [https://www.7cups.com/online-therapy/?ob=1] amiablePeace77     soulsings

Can someone help me

...See more Hello, For the past 4 years I have been having a growing suspicion that someone within my close family has developed a mental health issue ( The actions line-up with Paranoid Personality Disorder ). Through this, I have been forced to stop many things I love to do all in the sake of them trying to "protect me". I am still only a child ( by law ) and cannot take any action until I am 18. I cannot go and talk to my school because I have been pulled out ( by the person ) because they think the school is "out to kill me". So currently I am sat at home all day still trying to study to keep up with schoolwork hoping the person will let me go back to school. Financially I cannot look for a professional so I seek Aid from here. Please help me.

Going into hospital again

...See more Hi everyone, I’m a 27 year old woman who has been suffering with an eating disorder for the last few years. It has been bad, and I’ve already had three separate hospital admissions over the last two years, each lasting around four months until I could take no more and discharged myself earlier than medically advised. Obviously, this hasn’t worked out for me and I’ve relapsed each time. Once again, I am being admitted on Thursday with a very low BMI and this will be my third Christmas in a row spent in hospital. I’m feeling very defeated and depressed and am dreading returning. Any advice or words of motivation are appreciated ❤️

Is every occurrence of a mental illness treatable?
by alvinarose
Last post
November 16th, 2022
...See more A person's symptoms of a mental illness are evidence that the person has a conflict "within" his or her MIND. And that conflict is always a bit of Karma that person has to work out... with an exception of sorts. If the Karma that is causing that person's experience of a mental illness is near complete, a competent Gestalt Psychotherapist will be able to help that person discover that bit of Karma [which will usually be a "misperception" made by that person's MIND, and most often in early childhood], and that bit of Karma will be done with... for that person.
