The Smile in the Park
A mother and her daughter were walking through the park when they saw an old man sitting on a bench . He was looking poorly, skinny and his clothing was not the best but he was smiling.
The daughter asked her mother: “Mom, why does this old man have such a bright smile on his face, I’ve never seen someone so happy before?” The mother looked at her daughter and said: “There is nothing to smile about these days, everything is just so hard. Look, we haven’t got time to talk about this, we need to get home, it’s getting late and I have to cook!” But the young girl was fascinated by the old man and ran over to him and asked: “Old man, why are you smiling so much when life is so hard?” The old man even smiled more now and replied: “Little girl, I listen to the birds, I watch the dogs playing with each other, I notice people hugging each other, being kind - I savor all these moments and I’m thankful for them, that’s why I smile. 😊 ❤️
💡 What’s your take-away from this story?
@amiablePeace77 to me that story says not to judge by appearances. Some people are in a race to get the most things. I do not think things alone are enough to make us happy, there needs to be a gratitude for life and all the joys that present themselves to us. But we do not need to be homeless to appreciate those wonderful moments. We can appreciate them right now in our life just as it is.

Beautiful story! To me, it means that the smallest of pleasures can be found in the moment and when we treasure those we feel more grateful and open to all of the blessings that come our way.

You expressed this in a very beautiful way! Sometimes we are blinded by what's going on in our lives and can't see all these blessings but we always can open our eyes and see what's there!
@amiablepeace77
So so true about not being aware of all of the things we have to be grateful for :)

Find joy, peace, and contentment in the small things in life. Happiness can be found in just observations.
I have two clear bird feeders attached to my window, where I watch all sorts of birds come and feed. Truly amazing and I get joy watching them. God uses me to help feed them so He has people to help us to.
@amiablePeace77
It is often the smallest things that can make us the most happy, there is happiness in every day little things should we choose to see them.
@enjoyiableBlanket9782 that is well expressed. Even when things are not going great in life simply noticing nature can lift my spirits.
