NAMI
The National Alliance on Mental Illness provides support, awareness, and resources to those living with mental illness through advocacy and fundraising events. This year I was blessed enough to participate in a 5K NAMI walk and donate 100$ to the fight for "Stoping out Stigma". The turn out was overwhelming. They had live performers and professional speakers sharing their stories and shared passion. I made it all morning without getting teary, but my strength wavered during the moment of silence to honor loved ones lost to mental illness. This is such a powerful movement, and I am proud to be a part of it.
Be kind. Be well.

Woah, well done. I would have sobbed my heart out. i've never heard of Nami, i'll check them out now.
@PetalsOnTheWind,
Good to hear from you again! Yes, this topic certainly hits close to home for me and for many of you personally as well. So, I thought this story would find a good home in the forum. I always love to share resources whenever possible as a patient who has insurance but no access to mental health care. I hope you enjoy what you find. NAMI is a fantastic organization. Maybe you can find an upcoming event in your area!
Another great resource is DBSA- Depression Bi-Polar Suppose Alliance. DBSA offers free group support therapy every night of the week for those living with mental illness. =)
